Are you aware of how many steps you take in a day? Experts reckon you need 10,000 while keeping a count is not possible what you can do is to wear a pedometer, which will do the job for you it will also make you aware of how much more you need to walk in a day.

Invest in a good pair of gym/workout clothes.this will act as an incentive to exercise..
Dont be strict with your self all the time, its alright to cut your self some slack at times.Accept your limitations and embrace your plus points, that happier you feel about yourself, the more it will reflect in your life.Focus on the good things.and let go of things that aren't in your control. This acceptance will  actually help you feel better overall...

It can detect within 2 hrs if bacteria or virus is source of infection, reduce drug consumption.

A new blood test can help cut down on unnecessary use of antibiotics by detecting within two hours if bacteria or virus is the source of an infection ,scientists say,
It could stop patients being given antibiotics when they are not needed ,scientists say it is still a laboratory stage but the team is working on a portable device too.

A team of scientists from several medical centers in is real in collaboration with the company MeMed developed the new test,A large clinical  study has validated the ability of the diagnostics blood test to determine whether a patient  has a acute bacterial or viral infection. Unlike most infection disease diagnostics that body's immune response to accurately  characterize the cause of the infection.

Bacterial and viral infections are often clinically in distinguishable, leading to antibiotic overuse and contributing to the spread of antibiotic resistance. The inability to rapidly differentiate infections also results in the underused of antibiotic estimated to occur in 20-40% of all bacterial infections, putting patients at risks of complications and increasing health care sosts."antibiotic missuse is a pressing public health concern, with devastating sequence..

\Rapid accurate and actionable diagnostic tools are an important part of the solution because they can aid physical in making better informed treatment decisions.the technology leverages the fact that bacteria and virus trigger different pathways in the immune system..

By conducting extensive screening of immune system portions in patients with acute infections, researchers identified there soluble proteins that are uniquely activated bacteria or viruses..

EATING NUTS REDUCES METABOLIC SYNDROME RISK IN TEENS

A new study has indicated that modest consumption of nuts every day is associated with an improved cardiovascular risk profile among adolescents.
According to the study, adolescents who ate at least 12.9 grams of nuts per day, which is equivalents to eating a handful three times per week, had less than half the odds of non-eaters for developing metabolic syndrome, and this syndrome is a cluster of clinical features that heightens the risk of early disease and type 2 diabetes.

The study sampled 2,233 adolescents, in the age group of 12 to 19 years. One of the researcher said that the surprising finding is that in spite of what we know about their health benefits, the majority of teens eat no nuts at all on a typical day.

The researchers discovered that metabolic syndrome risk decreased with each additional gram per day of nut intake, but only up to 50g/day, when the benefit tapered off. They theorized that at higher intakes, any benefits may have been offset by eating too many calories.

Kim said that metabolic syndrome was a major public health problem and their findings at this stage show only a correlation and did not prove that the risk of metabolic disease in teens will go down by eating nuts. However, the results suggest the possibility that a simple dietary recommendation could have a significant impact on the metabolic health of adolescents.

According to the research, nuts contains hearts—healthy unsaturated fats, fibre and other nutrients but are high in calories.

10 Unusual signs of depression

Persistent sadness, unexplained feelings of emptiness, excessive drinking and pessimism are some of the evident signs of depression. But some signs are not so overt and include feelings excessive fatigue, worrying about an impending apocalypse, imagining having a fatal disease like cancer, and wanting to die because of excessive guilt, even for a small reason. We speak to psychiatrist Dr Harish sheetty, psychotherapist Varkha chulani and clinical psychologist Seema Hingorrany, to find out some more.....

1.     Excessive pain, headache and digestion problems: the intense feelings of sadness are manifested as headache, fibromalgia or as stomach problems. Many types of pain disorders with no obvious physiological reasons often occur due to depression.

2.      Inability to interact normally: depressed people withdraw into a shell and begin to shun personal contact. They go on mute mode, become reclusive and slowly shut out life.

3. An overdose of internet: A link has been found between depressed people and excessive internet use—virtual interactions, gaming and porn sites gain prominence, and actually connecting to people takes a backseats.
4. Sleep patterns are affected: They either sleep excessively or suffer from insomnia or sleeplessness.

5. Excessive crying: Depression leads to excessive crying, sometimes for even simple reasons.

6.  Total disconnect and marked numbness: There is this inability to feel and react to life and simple activities.

7. Grooming routine slowly disappears: One begins to stay unkempt—an untidy beard, neglected nails and shabby clothes are some manifestations. Some even stop combing their hair.

8. Thyroid: Depression and hypothyroidism have shared symptoms, say studies. These are a depressed mood, fatigue, weight gain, reduced sexual desire and trouble concentrating.

9.  Appetite is affected: Many resort to food when depressed, and either go on a binge spree or find that they have completely lost their appetite. Comfort eating also happens, as the body demands glucose to keep up the energy levels.

10. Inability to take simple and quick decisions: Researches have found that we take simple decisions—like taking the stairs or elevators, drinking milkshake or coffee—at least 65—70 times daily, without giving it much thought. However, a depressed person can’t make up his mind about these minor things.
